Meet Sarah

Sarah graduated as a vet from Liverpool University in 1997 and spent 10 years working in mixed and small animal practice. She then moved into management and currently runs her consultancy business alongside completing a PhD.

Whilst in practice, Sarah held senior clinical positions in corporate and independent organisations and completed an RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2006. In 2008 she became a Regional Manager to further pursue her business and people management interests. She was a member of the organization's Senior Management Team, Strategy Group and Clinical Services Board, making key decisions whilst maximising regional financial and clinical performance. She also identified the need for, wrote and delivered training material for internal and external CPD programmes and undertook a significant amount of teaching and lecturing.

In 2013 Sarah graduated with distinction from the University of Bath Executive MBA programme and in 2015 returned to the School of Management as a doctoral researcher. Her academic interests lie in Organisation Studies and her paper on career identity was published in the Veterinary Record in 2015; this formed part of the BVA/RCVS Vet Futures review on drivers of change within the industry.

Sarah continues to lecture at veterinary conferences both nationally and internationally. She runs organisational training programmes and workshops and speaks regularly on promoting diversity in leadership teams. Sarah utilises an evidence-based approach in her work and training and is a Fellow of the Center for Evidence-Based Management: She also acts as a mentor and coordinator and serves on the education committees for the BSAVA postgraduate certificate programme. She will launch a contemporary, evidence-based leadership programme for the BSAVA in 2018.
